When you visit this website
This website is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. When your browser loads a page, Cloudflare's servers process technical data: your IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and the type of browser and device. This is needed to deliver the website and to protect it against attacks. HNW does not combine this data with other data and does not build visitor profiles.
Fonts, scripts and images are hosted with the website itself. No data is sent to font services, social networks or other third parties when you view a page.
Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf and keeps it only as long as needed to deliver and protect the website. To tell people from automated attacks, Cloudflare may in some cases set a strictly necessary security cookie, for example __cf_bm or cf_clearance. These cookies contain no profile and expire after a short time. HNW itself sets no cookies.
Storage on your device
If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so that the website remembers it. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.
When you contact us
If you send us an email or use the contact form or the volunteer form, we process the data you give us: your name, your email address, your message and, on the volunteer form, the language you would like to teach and the optional details you add such as phone number, country and city.
We use this data only to answer you and, for volunteers, to contact you when a position opens. We do not pass it on to others and we never sell it. The forms send your details through our hosting provider Cloudflare to a protected spreadsheet in HNW's Google Workspace account. Until the spreadsheet collects them, which normally happens within a few minutes, your details are held in temporary storage at Cloudflare and deleted as soon as they have been collected, at the latest after 7 days. Only the team members who handle these requests can open the spreadsheet. The team is notified by an email that contains only your name and a reference number. If the temporary storage cannot be reached, your message is sent to the team by email instead, so that it is not lost. To keep out automated spam, the forms contain a hidden field. No tracking and no additional service is used for this.
If contacting us could put you at risk
Some of the people we work with live in places where learning or speaking about women's health can be dangerous. Please share only what is needed. This website has no registration form for students. We do not publish names, recognisable photos or other identifying details of students who live in Afghanistan.
Service providers and transfers abroad
We use service providers to run this website and our email. Cloudflare operates servers in many countries, including the United States, so technical data may be processed outside Switzerland. Our email and the archive of form entries are provided by Google Workspace. Google may also process data outside Switzerland, including in the United States.
- Cloudflare, Inc., United States, delivers the website and holds form entries in temporary storage. Cloudflare is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the Swiss Federal Council recognises as providing adequate protection. In addition, our data processing agreement with Cloudflare includes the standard contractual clauses approved for Switzerland.
- Google Cloud EMEA Limited, Ireland, provides Google Workspace. Ireland is recognised as providing adequate data protection. Where Google transfers data to the United States, Google relies on the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Links and social media
When you follow a link to another website, such as Instagram or an article under “In the media”, the privacy rules of that website apply. We have no influence on how it processes your data.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose described here.
- Messages from the contact form are deleted automatically 12 months after we receive them.
- Details from the volunteer form are deleted automatically 24 months after we receive them.
- The notification emails to the team, which contain only a name and a reference number, are deleted after 12 months at the latest.
- You can ask us to delete your data earlier at any time.
Where the law requires us to keep records for longer, for example accounting documents for ten years, we keep them for that period.
Your rights
You can ask us which data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, receive it in a common format, and object to its use. Write to contact@hnwomen.org. We answer free of charge.
If you believe we handle your data unlawfully, you can contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, we process your data on the basis of your consent when you write to us, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website. You may then also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Changes
We update this policy when the website or the law changes. The date below shows the current version.
